Do you have one were you live? There is a great Farmers Market my family(well my parents still go) every summer in my home town. We would get lots of fresh fruit and veggies. I live in the big city now, but I found several farmers markets near were I live and work. I plan on going to one this saturday. What about you? Do you go or have gone to a farmers market?

There are many farmers markets in this county as well as surrounding counties. I remember walking thru the asiles with my mother as a kid. And when the season is right we are there with my kids as well checking out all the neat veggies & fruits offered. Only problem is remembering wich location has the market on wich day and several are in shopping plaza parking lots.

Some around here are tue, thur & sat, some are wed, some are tue & Sat it's so confusing. But I understand I suppose as they want to have several venue's open for the farmers to sell their harvests and they can't be everywhere on the same exact days.

I don't think I have ever been to a farmers' market. Is it a special place? We do have a regular market in every town in the Philippines, we have the dry market and the wet market and of course we also have the super market for the groceries! haha Thanks for the response on my discussion :)

A farmers market is a place in the US were people who grow there own fruits and veggies and other things at home can come and sell them. Sometimes people who have small farms come and sell what they grow as well. Its usually and outdoor market that is only open at certain days and times. The quailty of the produce you get is sometimes better and cheaper than at the grocery store.

I have lived in this area for many years (not including the 6 months I left last winter), and just discovered a farm market this Spring. I was so excited. My home town has a lot of flea markets, which are basically like farmer's markets, except they carry a large variety of different items. This farmer's market was great though. And I guess it has been around for close to a century. There were pictures hanging up inside from way back in the 50's. But I don't think it was new even back then. I am going to try to go there more frequently now that I know where it is. I have also invited my sister and brother to go along with me sometime. The town next door, also just built a huge farmer's market. I want to take a Saturday and cruise over to visit that. I guess it is supposed to be quite the site. The one thing that I noticed the farmer's market had that the flea markets don't is fresh meat and a deli. I am not used to seeing anything like that. Usually just veggies and junk food. LOL

From the websites of the farmers markets I looked up, some of them sell fresh meat too. It was weird to see that they sell meat and cheese as well as fruit and veggies

In my neighborhood, there´s a farmers market that comes at walking distance from my house twice a week all year around. We have mild winters so we have seasonal veggies all the time. They are a little less expensive than at the super and LOTS better. The only thing I don´t like about it is that when I go, I want to buy everything and usually I buy a lot more than what I need living alone. The last time I went I bought wonderful veggies and fruit for two weeks for about $15. And I had to invite friends to use them before they perished Happy posting
