So I am among those who tend to get sick during the summer. It really sucks. Well normally if it gets bad I will take something over the counter so I can get by at work. Well THis time I have refused. I told my mom i am going to build my immune system. I dont want my body to rely on those meds to get me better. So I have been sick since monday. I have had two cups of that emergen-c which is basically vitamin c. I have been drinking brewed green tea. And thats it. I have been just bearing with it. My nose keeps draining. I have a headache from all the sinus pressure which also is making me dizzy. I have had a little nausea hear and there. I have a sore throat and a cough. So what do you do when you get sick? Do you try to ride it out or rely on meds?

I can imagine how awful that must be, especially in Summer :( Even though I do not usually get sick during Summer, I still suffer from hayfever. Before, I used to take medicines but they do not have much effect on me anymore. It seems like I've become immune to pills too. One day my friend suggested me to take herbal pills specifically made to reduce hayfever, and they really worked on me. I have been using them for two years now, and worked really well. I do not take them everyday but just when it is one of those days that you feel like being literally attacked by pollutants. They worked good so far

Thats good. I am into herbs but right now I feel like I need to build my immune system. I dont get sick often but I just think its necessary.

Could it possibly be allergies? A lot of the symptoms you describe are what I get once the leaves start coming out on the trees and the pollen starts to fly.

I usually ride it out, because 'overthecounter' med's just relieve the symptoms, your body is what is really doing the curing and healing. But if you know 'let's say' June is your most vulnerable month...start preparing for that time of the year a few months before it comes. Drink tea's that are cleansing and known for the purifying qualities and also eat foods that are known for re-enforcing your immune system. Drink plenty of tea's, fruit juices and water eliminating all soda's, coffee and those energy drinks. Get plenty of rest and if you indulge in the fast foods...completely omit them from your diet during that time. Try to eat as green as possible. And if eating your way to health isn't enough for you, research supplements that will help you to improve your health and stamina during that season. Begin now searching the web for healthy suggestions, and select solutions that make sense to you and are easy to incorporate into your lifestyle. Also drop by a local health food store and exchange some idea's with the staff... Best Wishes

Thanks for the advice. I mostly have been doing that anyways because I have been on a diet for about a month now. I also take a daily vitamin and occasionally drink ovaltine.

If i am sick, i will take medicine and try to sleep extra hours until the symptom subside, then i will be doing some exercises to sweat myself out completely; it works out well for me all the time.
