These are the astonishing BPL ststistics of season 2008-09 7-This is the first season that clubs were allowed to name seven substitutes on the bench instead of five. 2-Manchester united are the first club to claim two hat-tricks of English top-flight titles. 2-Liverpool became the first club in top-flight history to lose just 2 games all season and not win the title. 18-This is United's 18th English title equalling Liverpool record. 11-Sir Alex secured his 11th English title and 14th domestic league championship of his managerial career. 31-Sir Alex is the most successful manager in English and Scottish football with 31 major titles. 24-WBA is the 24th side to be relegated after just one season in English top-flight. 34-Manchester city have used most players this season 34-more than any other club. 21-Aston Villa have used least of the squad with 21. 100-Kanu from Portsmouth became the first player to make 100 league appearances as a substitute on May7. DOUBLES 11-Manchester United have done the double over 11 clubs: West Ham, Man City, Stoke, Wigan, Bolton, Protsmouth, Blackburn, Sunderland, Middlesbrough, WBA and Hull 10-Chelsea have 10 doubles to their name this season: Aston Villa, Man City, Wigan, Stoke, Bolton, Protsmouth, Blackburn, Middlesbrough, Sunderland and WBA 8-Liverpool have done the double over eight clubs: Man United(notably), Chelsea, Bolton, Blackburn, Portrsmouth, Sunderland, Newcastle and WBA DISCIPLINE 77-Blackburn Rovers collected the most yellow cards this season. 8-Newcastle's numver of red cards-more than any other club. 14-Everton's Fellaini was the league's most booked player. 13-Refree Mike Dean gave the most number of penalties this season. 8-He also sent off the most number of players. 63-In total there were 63 red cards this season. 5-Newcastle used the most number of penalty-takers this season. 337-Stoke city took the most number og long throw-ins with Delap taking 267 throws. 7-Blackburn and Man City won the most number of penalties this season. CLEAN SHEETS 10-Man City have won all ten league games when they kept clean sheets. 14-Manchester United set the record for number of most consecutive clean sheets from Nov 08 to Feb 09. 24-Man United kept the most number of clean sheets. GOALS 942-The total number of goals scored this season is the second lowest in Premier League history. 24-Both United and Chelsea share the lowest number of goals concede this season. 77-Liverpool have scored the most number of goals this season. 6-CR7 is the top scorer- when it comes to goals scored from outside the box. 4-Arshavin is the only player to score four goals in a single match this season. He is the only player in the history to score 4 and not be onthe winning side. 7- Crouch scored the most number of goals from headers. 6-Middlesbrough scored six own goals-more than any other clubs this season. 248-Chelsea made the most number of shots this season. 10-Lampard and Van Persie have the moat number of assists this season. 9-Stoke have the most number og goals from throw-ins. 10-Bolton scored 10 goals from free-kicks-the most in the league. 31-Aston Villa's Steve Sidwell scored the fastest goal in this season after only 31 seconds against Everton. The match ended 3-2 in favor of Villa. 95-Carlton Cole scored the 'latest' goal this season at 90+4 minutes and 56 seconds against Blackburn. POINTS 11-Chelsea set a new Premier LEague record of 11 straight away wins between April and December 08. 50-Manchester United have the best home record with 50 points won at Old Trafford. 44-Chelsea have the best away record with 44 points. 22-Liverpool have won the most number of points from losing positions ths season. 86-Liverpool recorded their highest points tally in their Premier League history. OTHER 24-Gareth Bale has not experinced a single league victory after 24 games for Spurs. 20- Hull took 20 points from their first nine games this season but just 15 from their last 29 games.
