Hey guys what's your take on reality shows? I must admit that there are some that are worth watching and following the progress of some of these persons are interesting. I do believe though that there are some that are just a farse or pretense. I'm always saying what about the embarassment of the persons who did not make it to the end as in the Bachelor or Cougar. I dont think people should look for love in that way. Im not saying that you cannot find love that way, Im just saying it looks unreal. What are your opinions?

You'd never get me to watch Survivor or Big Brother or Amazing Race. Just about the most unrealistic concepts for television shows, at least for me. If someone wants adventure, I'd rather browse on discovery channel. But for the love thing like the Bachelor, it seems one venue to meet a decent person. With the world population in the billion, finding the right person had become a strain for the romantic at heart. And you don't have to hire a private investigator for the background check. The show will do it for you. all you have to do is to enjoy the drama. Should one gets heart-broken, well, that is the reality of life.

Thanks for your response eileenleyva. My television is basically stuck on the Discovery Channel. There are a number of really interesting shows there. I'm not saying that all those 'Search for Love' shows are bad. Its just that I don't think a person should try to find love in such a manner. When it all boils down to it, it will only be the two of them left to decide their fate without the help of T.V. World. I guess I'm not much for the drama anyway.

I think the idea of reality shows are great because you can see people in their true light and often identify with them. I have watched big brother for years but the one started last week in the uk made me not watch it anymore, the people they put in are the type who think they are the prettiest and basically up themselves, they have just been put in their to be made fun of by the public. Also celebrity wife swap is aweful, i hardly ever know who the celebrities are and surely that the point of it because it would make the programme more exciting to watch. Alot of the american reality shows are really fake and its ovbious

There are some reality shows that are worth watching. However, there are some shows out there, which are pure junk. I was watching the show I'm a Celebrity - Get Me Out Of Here!!, thinking it could be something like Celebrity Survivor. Forget it. It seemed more like Divas Lost In The Jungle. My favorites are Dancing With The Stars, The Amazing Race, Survivor, Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader, and The Biggest Loser. At Least these show have a point behind them.

Wow finally I find someone who thinks like me with regards to the so called "reality shows".I have always been of the view that reality cannot be scripted and most of these show have some kind of script or direction. In addition I think I have seen enough to know that some of them have too much of an uncanny similarity with another one .From my observation there is always an aggressor ,a mediator a crier and a pacifist .Maybe I am just over-analysing or overcriticizing but to me that doesnt seem to mimic reality because in reality there is always these personalities around.Anyway I guess I dont need to say it but I am not a fan . Great discussion

i believe the majority of reality tv shows arent reality at all, its all just a load of poor scripting done to try to intrigue the general public, i do not care for any of them except survivor, but as far as the vh1's love shows (flavor of love, i love new york, a shot at love, a double shot at love, rock of love, and whatever the new one is) pure garbage

I think most reality shows are scripted. But even if they are, sometimes it's still intriguing to watch hehe :))

I don't really watch alot of television but when I do, I prefer to watch shows like Survivor, although I can't say I will follow the series right through. Overall, Reality Shows are another form of entertainment which neither makes them better or worse than any other television entertainment show.

Honestly, reality show for me is very interesting. It's like seeing them in their own skin. Hear them with out pretenses. Raw feelings are not scripted. I like it.

The only reality show I watch is "Wipeout" - and I don't exactly think that's a reality show - more of a game show. Still, it's way better than any other show in its genre - IMNSHO. I prefer "The Goode Family". Mike Judge makes the best cartoon families I know. ^_^ And I can sort of feel for the ecological side of them! I highly recommend it.

It does look unreal, but thats entertainment! Reality TV is one of my guilty pleasures. I loved "Rock of Love", "Daisy of Love", and whatever the one with Tila Tequila was called. These people are a bunch of fame-seeking idiots. If anyone really believes that the people come on that show already in love with whatever celebrity they are supposed to try and court, they must be really stupid. My sister said Bret Micheals admitted he wasnt even serious about finding love on "Rock of Love", but I'm not sure where she heard that. Its entertainment people!
