I saw mongoose near my house!

Suricate or mongoose is what I saw near my house, lots of them in group, I fear they might be harmful for the kids, Do they bite? They have made burrows in the rock crevices in our colony which they have dug out! Dozens of them moving together for food or else! Its a concern for me!
