When I cook I prefer to concentrate on flavour first and looks second. Although if what I've cooked is absolutely delicious but a mushy mixed up mess I'd probably throw it away and start again or cook something different. But that doesn't happen very often... If I dine out I order meals that I assume will be really tasty and if it arrives looking ugly it ruins my appetite and I'll probably push it to one side. On the other hand, it would be worse if my meal arrived looking beautiful but tasted bland or not cooked properly, or is cold. So I try to eat out at restaurants that I can trust to serve good food overall. If something's good the first time, I'll definitely order it again. I also take price into consideration. I wouldn't order expensive food if it tastes like crap.

I am not overly concerned with the presentation of my food. I am more interested in how the food tastes. As an old Navy buddy of my husbands put it rather bluntly "it all goes to the same place in the end, so why should it matter how it looks going in?" I think the guy makes a great point.
