How aren't we the same?

Why do people of other race look down upon those that aren't their color? Why can't I walk down the street or the airport with a bhindi on my forehead without getting stares and rude comments said to me? Why is that when you see a group of black people in the car that you think they are up to no good? How aren't we the same when God created all of us from His image giving each and every one of us a special characteristic? What makes you better then me? Is it because my people were slaves and were in chains for many centuries? Working under a white master who degraded us but slept with the black maids. How aren't we the same if i have a brain like you, have bones in the right order and giving me two eyes, two ears, one nose and mouth? What makes any race better than another?

because ppl are ignorant. i never looked down on no one because of those things. i was raised better than that. maybe ppl think this way because they get influence by other ppl. i'm not saying that they shouldn't be blamed also i'm just saying theres a different story for everyone

Maybe some of the people are racism. As for me, I just look for blacks and whites because I'm comparing my complexion with them. I have a fair skin. I don't look black as slave.

Skin colour is irrelevant, it does not define a person. I am sure if we all traced our roots to the very beginning you will find that we all came from Africa. Our skin colour changed to cope with the different environments that our ancestors encountered as they branched out into the wide world. Anybody who uses racism to try and prove their own superiority above somebody else is ignorant and foolish. I think it is human nature to fear what is different to themselves, so this could explain a lot of the racism we encounter. As the world becomes more open we can reach out to each over and see for ourselves that we are all human, nothing more and nothing less.

Others feel we maybe aren't the same here, in color, social status or whatever but we mst bear in mind the ability of each other to be of help to one another in times of need. No man is an island, no matter how wealthy you are, you can't survive alone. What if you need a help and the only man who could help you is with differrent color? Anyway we won't differ in the truth that one day our lives will be ended and leave this world to new generation that may realize they don't differ from each other.

Well i just accepted the fact that everywhere in the world, there is racism. We cannot deny the fact that once we get to live in a country that we are the foreigners, there will always be discrimination and not equal treatment of people towards you. Some would even ridicule you of how you dress and would stare at you from head to toe or vice versa. Stereotyping has existed long time back before I was born and that's for sure. Everyone of us has the same thinking of why do these things happen when God created us in His own image and likeness and we humans treat each other differently. The only solution i think of this is respect to others and mind your own business. I do get stared most of the time because I am a foreigner living in the country of my hubby and I do have difficulties adjusting to my environment as well because this is not what I got used of and my country has different customs and traditions too that I tend to miss a lot when I am not at home and not at ease.

I don't know. All the fear and hate seem to be a test placed upon us. Color and other appearance should mean nothing, but if we were all blind, would it be too easy to get along? Society has formed in such a way that we all try to sum up another in moments instead of getting to know people. Skin color is the easiest first cut. I don't think there is an easy way to stop it. It is something we all have to deal with in our individual journeys toward being a better person.

You are absolutely right. I have never understood why people believe that race determines who you are. For whatever reason this mindset continues to survive and I believe that unfortunately it will most likely never truely end. Its become part of a tradition, part of culture. A sad fact but fact none the less. It is a cruel world when we are to be judged by our race rather than by who we are. No race is any better than any other. We are all flawed and always will be. But I hate that so many people seem to believe that the way to make up for their flaws is to create flaws in someone else based on false ignorant stereotypes. It is perhaps the greatest disease of our planet. And one without a cure. All anyone can do is promise to remain above it. Allow the ignorants to lead their lives. Strive to be one less of them. We can never erase their closed-minded way of thinking, but we can ensure that we will never allow ourselves to become one of them. Or to allow ourselves to be victim to them. Those who judge one as inferior based on race or any other superficial characteristic is truely the weaker mind.

because it was driven into their minds for centuries that white skinned people are superiors to the rest of the world even though they are lazy, they murder the innocents, they cheat, with rest of the qualities like the others.and we are born with that servility in our blood.we cringe we refuse to feel equal, even today we in our heart of hearts feel that they are our lords.we have to learn to walk with our head high, with confidence.learn to do that u won't feel bad.

Hi, and welcome in Mylot, you are very right to be racist maybe is the bad thing what a human can be. Color? what is this? Religion? Come on...God is only one!! Fat? skinny? blind? Who makes this rules? Who are they who can judge us for what we are? Same brain, same heart, same soul, same right to live to this planet. Any way, who is racist is a weak person who have real problem..

This is horrible to hear! I hate racism! Most of my in-laws are black and I am the whitest person you will ever see and when my daughter was born she was quite dark too and people looked at me in the street like I had stolen her or something, she has got alot lighter now and when her aunty and uncle have her people look at them like they have stolen her. I think some people are just narrow minded and dont know whats decent behaviour! I dosagree with all racism because like you say we are all the same people we all look differnt though. To be honest I think it wo0uld be the same if we was all white, black, orange, blue or green although different priciples people would find something else to laugh about. I dont understand where some people ghet their mentality from. Next time it happens just stare back or laugh back, they womt like that then or if not just hold your head high and ignore it to the best of your ability =)

I really hate when people comment and harm Indians, not only Indians any one. Don't they know and think that we are also human beings like them. If I do any mistake knowingly or unknowingly which has harmed and troubled others. I really don't get sleep and can't concentrate on other work. Ofcourse I am very sensitive though, Everyone has to be treated normally and when a foreigner visits to other countires they should be treated properly since they are guests to their country. I don't know when this going to be stopped and what action Govt will take.

I think it is arrogance. It makes people think they are the best and others who are not like them are inferior to them. It is really shame on humanity that racism exists even today though not as severe as it was once. It is just that people need to think logically then they will understand the futility of making such differentiations.
