Make a difference in an animal's life today

How can we make a difference in an animal's life today? How can we be kind or give a caring touch or say something nice to an animal? Many people do not realize that animals have feelings too. They are very perceptive and can feel many of the things that man can feel (pain, depression, hunger, fear). In a world of such cruelness to animals, it is my dream that those who care about animals will band together even stronger to fight the evils of this world, those who are cruel to animals. There are many ways that I can think of to show kindness to an animal each and every day. I have 3 kittens right now. They are 6 weeks old. I took them to a pre-adoption showing yesterday, only the second time they were away from their feral momma. They did pretty well. I had been trying to get them to be a little more independent, separating them from momma. I brought them in the house away from mom for a couple of days. Today even after they got food, water, etc. they were crying a little. I knew they were missing their momma. I brought them to momma who is in a big cage awaiting her "spaying" and reunited the little family. In a small way I thought this was a kind thing to do, to allow the kittens to be with momma for a couple more weeks until they are ready for complete independence. Every day I talk to my kitties, touch them, kiss them, etc. They respond to and appreciate the kindness. It does not have to be your own pets or animals that you are kind to. It can be any other animal you come across in your daily lives. I often talk to the birds I see. You can tell they are watching you and in their own way, they listen to you. I would like to hear from others who have done a good deed for an animal today. I get so depressed at hearing so much bad news every day that is is time to hear from those who care about nature and animals.

Today my husband made a difference in 5 animal's lives today. He put the airconditioner in the living room. This may not sound like a major thing but it is going to be 102 here today and it was close to that yesterday. My two dogs and us three humans have been getting hot during the day. Hopefully the AC will work well and we will not be so hot any more.

Wow, 102! That is hot. To me it is a major thing for your husband to do. Animals do suffer in the heat just like people do. They need to keep hydrated also. I am so glad that you are doing something to make a difference. Everything helps no matter if it seems big or small. It is still June gloom here in California. I can't wait until the weather warms up a bit. Of course, 102 is a little too hot but summer makes me feel more alive and less depressed. I like the sunshine (but glad when it is not too hot and not too cold either). Hugs.

You are so right momiecat, there is so much cruelty in this world and we have to fight the uphill battle to get it to stop. People do need to change their attitudes about animals "It's just an animal" attitude and see them for what they really are which is, "They ask for so little and give so much" because it's so true! I have 10 cats and 4 dogs, but not by choice did I ask to have so many but because they showed up in my yard so I adopted them or was it the other way around? They adopted me! lol What ever their reasons for being here, it doesn't matter because they were in dire need of food and water and of course a lot of love and attention which I was more than willing to give. Four of my cats were strays and one was a rescue and now they're a huge part of my family. So that said, I took them all down to the spay and neuter clinic and had them all fixed so no more unwanted kitties would be born. They're all free cats to come and go as they please and they seem to like it here. lol

Such heartwarming thoughts. That is what I really like to hear, people understanding animals and what they need and especially that they do not ask for much. It is so precious to me to watch how the animals interact when they are happy, well fed and comfortable. I think it is a lesson we as people need to learn from the animals in order for our world to be a better place and for people to get along. Too bad more people do not come to this realization. Our short lives here on earth would be so much better if we could all live peaceably with the animals and with each other. Hugs to you too!

I do little things too...like throwing out bread heals to the birds, buying an extra couple of bags or cans of food for the shelter, anything I can. I also put a little dish of food out for strays when I see them. It's really nice that your helping the kittens and getting the momma fixed. ~~AT PEACE WITHIN~~ **STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS**
