Hi there Mylotters! This is the first of the series of my recommended movies to everyone who loves watching movies... And I'd like to start to probably 'the best movies of all-time'- "The Godfather Trilogy"... & here is the 1st part: Part I (The Godfather [1972]) The story begins as "Don" Vito Corleone, the head of a New York Mafia "family", oversees his daugther's wedding. His beloved son Michael (Al Pacino) has just come home from the war, but does intend to become part of his father's business. Through Michael's life the nature of the family business becomes clear. The business of the family is just like the head of the family, kind and benevolent to those who give respect, but given to ruthless violence whenever stands against the good of the family. Don Vito lives his life in the way of the old country, but times are changing and some don't want to follow the old ways and look out for community and "family". An up and coming rival of the Corleone family wants to start selling drugs in New York, and needs the Don's influence to further his plan. The clash of the Don's fading old world values and the new ways will demand a terrible price, especially from Michael, all for the sake of the family. So much for the spoiler, the summary is just enough to indulge all to watch this great classic movie... And to those who have already watched it... jump in to the discussion and share your experiences w/ the movie... Thanks!

I've watched this movie, and you're right! The movie is great. But, the trilogy can't stand alone. I mean, all of the three movies are connected to each other, you can't watch them separately. I think this is the best mob movie ever made!

I love the movie, as well as the book version. There is something so uniquely fascinating with the storyline Godfather. Wondering about Don Vito's life, I wonder about how they love their women, naming their girlfriends, wives, mothers, they are religious and yet they can still murder and have compassion from the heart too. Total intense! Thanks for making me remember this movie once more I am a big fanof Al Pacino. He's such a good actor.
