It was Jose Rizal's birthday today,. Jose Rizal is Philippines national hero. He did great things for the Philippine independence. He fought without a sword but by pen. Spaniards feels ashamed of what they did to our country before and they have made a great mistake because right now We stand alone.

Good day to you agv0419, well like what you have said. I also agree that Dr.Jose Rizal deserve to be our National Hero because of his unique fighting ability which he only use pen to write a article that makes Filipino to fight and inspired. By the way, Me too I never forgot the Birth day of our National Hero Dr.Jose Rizal, which was June 19. Then last I'm hoping that nowadays there could be a man that is same with Dr.Jose Rizal. Well, that's all the end of my response! Happy mylotting to all of us and God bless us always!

He triggered nationalism through his writings. He was the first one who sacrificed for the country by persevering starvation in Europe to be able to come up with the books that can help open the eyes of the Filipinos on the abuse of colonialism

Actually there is no law that explicitly proclaimed Rizal or any other persons in Philippine history as a "national hero". There was a committee formed in 1995 who recommended nine individuals to be proclaimed as such because of their significant roles in nation building and their historical contributions. However, until now, it is not acted upon due to various considerations. These are the said individuals: (1) Jose Rizal (2) Andres Bonifacio (3) Emilio Aguinaldo (4) Apolinario Mabini (5) Marcelo del Pilar (6) Sultan Muhammad Dipatuan Kudarat (7) Juan Luna (8) Melchora Aquino (9) Gabriela Silang Even in the absence of an official proclamation, I would say all these people (except Aguinaldo) are deserving to be honoured as our "national heroes".
