What do you know about anxiety disorders?

I have an anxiety disorder called agoraphobia with panic attacks. I was wondering how much you know about anxiety disorders, how do they get treated, what (type of) medicines are used? It is important that you do not look up on the internet, just tell me by heart. :) [b] Also if you have questions don't hesitate, ask them. :)[/b] Let's make this a vivid discussion. :)

well i've heard that beta blockers work quite well without making you sleepy. have you talked to your doctor yet? this kind of thing is very treatable but can really mess up your life if you don't get it sorted

Yeah I've had treatment because my life was a big mess indeed. Now things are pretty fine and it's not so big problem anymore to go outside. I have anti-depressants and they work well I think. I still encounter some situations I don't feel comfortable in but I can cope with it.

I dont know much about it but my mom has an anxiety disorder. I didn't know though that there were different types. She takes medications for it. I think one starts with a z. Thats as much as I can say though.

Hmm, I know a lot of anxiety disorders but none start with a Z. What kind of symptoms does she have? I understand when you don't feel comfortable talking about it.
