i want to display ads on my wordpress, anyone can help?

i have a blog in wordpress, but i do need help to display ads wether from googleadsense or others. i've tried to copy the code from bidvertiser and googleadsense, pasted it in my sidebar widget tex/html, but it's never shown up. after i pasted it. the code was automatically deleted. is there any way that i could paste the code. and if you please, please explain step by step. since i don't quite understand about wordpress. best regards, SDK
