have you had any bad experiences in getting your luggage in the luggage counter from the airport? does it usually takes time for you to wait for your bag? what about extra baggage fees?

my worst experience was when i went to India for a 3month vacation. when im about to return to manila it was via Malaysian airline. when i reached Mumbai airport from India, they told me that 25kgs is only allowed and mine is 35kgs. i have to pay 10,000 rupees for me to have those baggages to be brought to Philippines. i was dissapointed because i shelled out lots of money for my three bags. i cannot decide anymore what to bring as my hand bag because i was pregnant at that time and i can only carry one bag. anyway i ended up paying the said amount for me to bring all those things in my bag. by the way, i was alone when i returned back to manila.:-(

Rs 10,000 is almost equivalent to P8,500 pesos. Yes i have to be brave to travel along because my hubby is unable to go with me at that time. One thing i have learned is really not to bring so much and not get addicted with clothes, hehehe.

Coming home from the States we had some baggage problems. We moved them about--assigning some from check-in bags to carry-on.It just so happened that my mom packed shampoo bottles in the check luggage that we made a carry-on, and we discovered that when we were already in baggage inspection at that point. We had hoped to simply pass it as additional baggage but they were charging $175 for the extra bag! Not to mention tath evryone at the airport was on a short fuse that morning because first, the other flight to Tallahasee (we were on the one to Detroit) was delayed, and the conveyor belts were broken so the luggage had to be lifted manually. We decided to just leave the shampoos and stuff. In the airport in Nagoya the woman at baggage inspection was telling us there were huge liquid-filled containers in our bags, which we found odd because they's already relieved us of all that in Jacksonville. So we said that, and the girl let us go. We found at home that there were shampoos that the staff in Jax missed :) Finally, in NAIA, our check in bags didn't come! Because of the problems they'd had the bags were left in Detroit. A representative from the airline delivered it to our home the next day :)

wow, that was odd. so they are really very strict still when it comes to liquid substances. but anyway the good thing about it is they were able to return the bags to you. good thing that you did not pay the amount of $175, still its a huge money however, you have lost some of the things that may be necessary for you.

I like to travel with light weight luggage and usually bring along only the minimum clothes required for the trip. Therefore, I will carry the luggage on board and seldom submit it to the counter. It save me time to wait at the luggage claim area after arrival. There was one time, my baggage missed the flight and I can only get it on the next day. Happy posting and have a nice day!

I've never encountered any bad experiences in getting my luggage in an airport. I used to not know how to properly pack things before so I always have to have an enormous bag everytime I travel even for just a get away for three days :) But eventually, I learned and I always travel light now... :) I had to pay extra baggage fees only once... and that was because it was my first time to ride Cebupacific airlines.. and I think they have the smallest maximum baggage weight requirement. I had to take some heavy things off my bag so that I could pay less.
