Hello everyone.. I just wanna know what kind of guitar player are you.. Are you an acoustic player? or.. an electric guitar player?..or..even a classical player?.. well, i belong to the third one.. im a classical player...i mostly play stuff or songs that needs a skill in what we call plucking or fingering... well, its not really my choice to be a classical or simply others say a folk player..my parents want me too..(you know most songs at the 1970's are slow like Dust in the Wind..but its a good song)..they want me to play for them... i usually play songs like fur elise by beethoven..and mostly Avril Lavigne's songs..since she has lots of songs thats has the plucking matter.... but when i joined a girl band with my friends..wherein they named it Paranoia, for a battle of the bands in school, i learned the rock songs..isn't that nice..from folk to rock?..lol.. like Linkin Park's Leaving out all the rest and What i've done.. well, How about you?.. Have a nice day and happy mylotting..:D so i had my electric guitar bought..and practice.

Hi Fheroan, it's nice to know that you're a classic guitar player! I tried to learn when I was young though, but when I got my first cut from the string I stopped. My impression about learning guitar is easy till I bleed! Now I enjoy all the guitarist plucking their guitar and that's all I do with guitar. I'm a Good listener!

hello there.. thanks that you appreciate that im a classical player..well, maybe you had a sensitive skin thats why you cut yourself..its the first time i've known somebody cut her finger by the guitar strings..well, i think its ok that you didnt continue learning the guitar since you said you enjoy listening and maybe thats really your forte about guitars..well, thanks for the response and have a nice day...:D

I am a country/ folk player. Some songs I play without a pick and others I do.Most of the songs I know were popular in the 70's and 80's.I know a few rock songs but I am better at country. It is funny. I play classical violin, not a fiddle and I play country guitar , not classical.

Maybe because I am lefthanded and I play a righthanded guitar. I find struming easier to do. But most of my songs I don't use a pick. I am semi retired, I need to play more and get back into shape.

hello there.. thats nice..so, you've just started?.. well, the exercise i can tell you is that you memorize some of the scales in the guiatr..for example me, what i mastered is the pentatonic scale of A..by knowing this scale i can put random plucking in a song with that scale too.. and another thing, to make your fingers a little bit flexible do the exercise we call mnemonics, idk why they call it like that..do this always when your starting to play the guitar..its like press all the notes in the fretboard continuously from left to right...this will help your finger to switch notes in a short period of time...well thanks for the response and have a nice day..:D

I was classicly trained on the violin when I started guitar I wanted to do something different so I went rock. I was very lucky my guitar teacher started out classic and then went rock from there. Though him I did both, even switching from acoustic to electric. Doing both will enrich you as a player. One of the best thing I loved to hear my teacher do was take any song and switch it style. Example he could turn a Metalic song classic or make Beethoven rock.

hello there.. i think your teacher is really talented..its hard to revise songs from a genre to another genre..well, today's trend in electric guitar was to make the classical pieces into rock ones...thanks for the response and have a nice day..:D

I tried to learn how to play the guitar when I was in fifth grade but I got scared because the following day I got swollen fingertips! I only learned the major chords and didn't continue with the guitar lessons. I plan to stick with piano. lol. But anyway, my kid is now into playing the guitar and I'm encouraging him to learn classical. He's got an acoustic and electric guitar, but he mostly uses the acoustic one. Maybe when he grows up he can join or make a band of his own =)

hello there..thanks for the response.. yeah..swollen fingertips are usually the reason why many guitar learners quit.. i had that too before..and i said to myself..i need to make it more swollen so that it will be faster to calloused my fingertips..and its effective..i just slide my fingertips many times on the fretboard of an acoustic steel guitar..so that it will hurt more..just remember NO PAIN, NO GAIN..hehe..have a nice day..:D

Yes, yes, yes...to answer the question(s). I love to rock out on my electric...and some songs do have fingering involved (Stairway to Heaven is fingered in the beginning). I keep an acoustic (Dean V-coustic) by my seat in the tv area so I can pluck it during commercials, or when we have company over. I love to play 'Moonlight Sonata' on my lime green classical guitar! But when the house is empty and I'm at home by myself, there is nothing I like better than to crank up the Marshall and let the Ibenez wail and scream some classic rock like Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Scorpions, BTO and other great bands from the day.

hey fheroan i am an electric guitar player. i have a peavey predator EXP, it is a really good guitar (and really cheap too) plus it looks awesome. its metallic blue XD i think its great that you moved from folk to rock, even though your parents like you to play folk for them you should also play music that really interestes you. expand your skills, show off even more. you never know, your parents might be happy if you learn a really complicated song that ISNT a song they like, they will be fascinated just by the fact that their son is playing such a complicated piece.

I've been playing acoustic mostly for the past year or so, but I have my electric out as well for the times I really want to jam. I'm mostly a rhythm player. I don't get a chance to play enough to really get down to the nuts and bolts of solos and such. I used to be in a band several years ago, but we didn't get much farther than my basement! Heh.

I belong to the 1st and 2nd group, but I am very interested in learning about the 3rd. I used to play in a rock band too, and I have played all the instruments of a band. From drums to keyboards, from the loud low voiced bass guitar to the loud screaming electric guitar! I have played them all. But with classical guitar, I admire the people who can play well with classical. It is a more refined playing compared to the 1st group and the 2nd group. I am very interested in playing classical and I am planning to buy a nylon guitar. Is it the one recommended for playing classical? A nylon stringed guitar?
