Sometimes, I have a lot of trouble with insomnia, but when I can sleep, eight hours is just about right for me. Do you sleep well? How many hours of sleep do you average per day/night?

Hello! Karen! I sleep for at least 7 hours at night. I get up early in the morning at around 5.30 a.m. to fetch fresh milk. By the time it is 10.00 p.m., I feel tired and go to bed. I've made it a habit to go to bed at the scheduled time so that my body could take proper rest. I donot prefer watching TV before going to bed. Once I am on the bed, it takes about 15 mintues to go to sleep. If I get undisturbed sleep (which I normally do) I feel fresh the next morning. Deepak Good Post!

Hi Deepak...yes, whenever one's sleep routine is disrupted, it seems to take a few days to get back on track!

Hi Dpk :) You are following what experts say is a good schedule...rising at the same time each morning and going to bed at the same time each night. That keeps our body and its inner clock from getting confused and helps promote good rest when we do sleep! Thank you for your input. Karen

Hi Hugoo...as long as you are getting seven or eight hours of sleep and it is enough, I wouldn't worry about your time of going to sleep. I tend to stay up late always, too. Some people's systems are just that way...it is called being a night owl. If you truly want to get to bed earlier, try making yourself get up one hour earlier each morning, and perhaps you'll be tired then earlier in the evening. Otherwise, just embrace your schedule as "okay" for you :) Karen

I used have troubled sleeping patterns but no more. I think it was the time of bad times and less physical work. Now I have grown out of it and also I am working. That could be the reason why I get dog tired and sleep off easily nowadays. Eight hours is a good time. I think some people require more sleep, some less depending on the work pressure and climate and physiology. You take care and eat well at night. Sometimes less amount of food gets us less sleep.

Hello Mimpi :) I also have sleep problems when my mind is troubled about something. And yes, people do have different sleep requirements. I do feel my own best when I get at least 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep each night. For sure, hard work makes us tired more easily and ready to sleep. Thank you for all your insights. Karen

Then your five hours must be what your mind and body need to do their best. How much sleep we need does vary from person to person, and as long as you get what is right for you, then that's what counts :D Karen

I agree that five hours just isn't enough. Since I have insomnia quite often too I think it is fine when we make it up the next day :) I appreciated your response, Tigeraunt. Have a beautiful day. Karen

Most studies show that seven to nine hours a night is what many people need to feel and perform at their best. I am happy for you that you get that : ) I do like to take short naps at some point during the day, as I have insomnia quite often. I have learned to sleep when and as I can! Thank you for responding. Karen

I definitely do not get enough sleep these days. I used to get average of eight hours per day. But there are some problems in my life now and it's affecting my sleep patterns. If I get a chance, I'd take a short 20 minute nap in the afternoon. That will leave me a little refreshed throughout the rest of the day. Last night, I slept at 1am and woke up at 6.30 am. Not enough, by my general standards...

I am like you. When a lot of problems are bothering me, I have a terrible time getting enough sleep. Taking a nap when I can is a must. I am glad to hear I'm not the only one who enjoys a nap to get me through the rest of the day. I hope that soon you can resolve the problems that are effecting your sleep! Karen

Hello my friend PeacefulWmn9 Ji, Well, I too get less sleep, In day time, I hardly sleep, and after 11 PM, only I may get sleep, as I am regular habituated to read my books and then only I get sleep, but can sleep upto 7 AM next morning. No body should wake me. When I open my eyes, if my hubby is ready with cup of tea, whole day will be nice. So I do not sleep day time and I get 7-8 hrs sleep at night. May god bless You and have a great time.

To be honest, I never sleep well. I sleep at about 10 in the morning and wake up at about 4-5 in the morning. I wake up early because it's my only time to work here on mylot. Because I only borrowed laptop from my cousins. And they use this laptop almost all day. So for me to earn extra money, I needed to sacrifice a little. I have an average sleep of about 6-7 hours a day

It is hard when sleep is one of the sacrifices we must make to earn some extra money, yes? I used to have to borrow a computer, too, and like you, it was only right that I work around the owner's schedule. I am glad to have my own again. I hope you have one soon! My best wishes. Karen

I think yes. I sleep well because eventhough I have 4 hour sleep, I can still manage to be awake more than 24hours. I work at graveyard shift and I can still manage to wake up feeling better. My average sleep is ranging 5 - 8 hours everyday. Depending on the acivity that I have.

Hello Danielle. I have read often that how many hours of sleep needed vary greatly from person to person. As long as you get what is right for you to feel well, then that is what counts most, whether it be 4 hours or eight or ten. Thank you for your input :) Karen

I sleep well everyday. Normally I go to bed at about 12am and I sleep until 9am. 8 to 9 hours time of sleeping is enough for me. I can't sleep more coz I will get drowsy for the whole day. I didn't take nap at noon coz the weather in Malaysia is very hot. So only the night time is most important for me to sleep.

It sounds as if you've discovered a schedule that works really well for you. Most people do best on 7-9 hours of sleep each night. And yes, it is very hard to sleep when it is too hot. Thank you for your input! Keep sleeping well :) Karen
