Has anyone ever joined a mail order book club? Such as scholastic, disney, or etc for children? Maybe the book of the month club....I am thinking about doing this, but will they rip me off?

It's cheaper just to get your books at a store close to you because by the time you pay for the books and then shipping your paying way to much and probably more than they are worth..

Over the years I've been in three different book clubs, all have sent me books I didn't want, charged me for books I hadn't received and took about six months to get the message that I wanted to stop being a member. Buy your books from bookshops it's much better and you can get what you want.

I joined the Nick Jr book club for my son a few years ago. The first shipment came fine and my son enjoyed the books. We waited and waited for the second shipment and nothing came. After awhile we recieved a bill for 2 shipments of books that never arrived. I called the book club and they said that they'd resend them, still nothing. They (supposedly) resent them a 3rd time with no luck. I kept getting the bills though. Finally I called and said that I didnt want the boks and that I was not paying for books we didn't recieve. To date none of the books that they sent after the introductory shipment made it here. It put me off of joining mail order book clubs. I'm sure some people have had good experiences, just not me. Now I just stick to buying from the book orders that the kids school sends home.

I sell children's books - It is not a book club, but you can go on-line and order the books they want and they are great prices!! My website is www.ubah.com/M2001 - take a look when you get a chance - don't forget to look in the internet specials and the sale items - there are books for only $3!!!
