Dating Do or Don't: Can You Date a Guy If You Know He's Not The One?

here's our sweet reader's question: What do you do when you're in a relationship that you know isn't going to turn into a 'forever' situation but is good for the time being? Whether life plans will make it impractical in the future, you're not that compatible or you're just not THAT into him...you like him but know he's not "the one." I'm in college and not looking for "forever" yet, but I do have a nice boyfriend. I find myself between "why bother, I should end it before I get more attached" or "let's drag it out until we're sick of each other and the whole thing goes sour." What do you think?

You're in college - you should have fun (of course with studies in the forefront, before anything else: WORK HARD, PLAY HARDER, that was my motto in college). Anyways, this relationship - just make sure it's still "fun" - for both parties. Just make sure he knows where you stand. I think that's the key in keeping both of you satisfied with "for now." I've dated some when I was in college ("for fun") - they knew that school came first. And once they get a tad bit clingy and distracting - I called it quits. I'm now in a serious relationship (yes I'm done with college, class of 06!)- we're talking the "forever" kind. =D
