Hello triptibaby, webs is good choice for beginners, as there are many useful tools and there is no coding of nay kind to make the pages. But first you need to think about whether you will carry on the website for a long time or is just a hobby site like a blog. If its the latter thing, then you can consider blogspot or wordpress. They too are free and in blogspot you can add gadgets the same way as in webs. But since you are more worried about security and stuff like that, then you can consider paying for the hosting. When you need complete peace of mind with great number of features and total control on your website then you must get your own shared server atleast if not virtual server or dedicated ones :). For this you will also need server which has PHP support and MySQL databases. These help to store data and perform dynamic generation of pages which is used in Content Management Systems (CMS). I would recommend two free hosts which are higly reliable. The first one is 110mb.com. It has the more than enough space and bandwidth to start your website. As for the features you don't get MySQL database, you need to pay a one time payment of 9+ dollars which will allow you to get free 999 databases for life. The interesting thing is, the community is very very active and you can get almost instant replies there if you need any help. The second one is true paid hosting for free. The website is trap17.com, but you would better go to trap17.com/forums to get the idea. This one has been running since 2004. So you can know its reliable. Basically you need to earn mycents by posting in the forums. Then with your earned money you can buy paid hosting for free. You can even get a virtual private server for free this way. They too have very good ticket response time and there community is also helpful to newbies.

Thank you for sharing my trouble in detail. Actually I want to build up a site which will include forum, writing reviews, blogging, putting up polls, and a lot many such things like social networking sites. But this would be limited to my friend circle and family members to update their views. I was confused with what to go. As it would be a non-profit making site, I was not suppose to invest for maintaining a paid hoisting site. You seem to have a vast knowledge on online activities. Thank you once more for your response. I shall look for the sites you mentioned. But with blogspot, I don't find the options or probably not know how to use them. So I thought that I could have all these functions in a web hoisting site. Please input little more information on my querries regarding this.

For your needs you would need what is called as a content management system. It basically has all the features which you described, plus it has even more. First you would need a webspace, which I would recommend you to get from trap17. Its free, you just need to earn two dollars by posting 5 or so posts, you get a month of free hosting. Posting hardly takes half an hour to get a month of hosting. Then you would need to download a script or cms as it is called. The names is Joomla (http://www.joomla.org/download.html), there are tons of other but this one is the best and user friendly. Upload it to the server and install it. There are helpful guides in the site to help you install, if not you are always free to ask here. I would help you. And for the restriction, yes you can do it, just enable user registration system, and accept the registration only from the friends you know, so they can see the website contents. Others will not be able to get to your content on the site. And in trap17 you can even get a domain name like yourname.com for free. You just need to earn mycents like here in mylot, but you earn almost 30 - 50 cents for a good post.

Thanks for sharing all the informations to help me out of my dilema. I had been to the site you said, Trap17 and there I had made some posts. But my account is not showing up any earnings. I already had 23 posts but not getting much response. May be because I don't have any detailed knowledge of freebies and webs. Actually, I had seen that the forums which deals with some posts on software or utilities attract more readers and participants. Anyway, I am a Newbie Level 1 out there and wish to get a free domain when I attain 40 posts. I will disturb you any moment I feel I need your help. I think you won't be upset with my disturbances. Thanks a lot for your time.
