What's up with those sites violating your privacy?

Once in a while I run my email addresses through google to make sure they are not entered in some kind of blacklist or something. And to my surprise according to two sites I had been spamming links to a forum. I can't remember this so I contacted both sites one immediately removed the entry and the other told me I indicated that I am going to proceed in a court of law against them and that they will not react to my emails anymore... And he told me they have the rights to publish any mails send to their email account. I can't believe my bloody ears, it's just ludicrous what damage people can do without violating laws... Does somebody have a clue on what to do?
