Do any of you invest in stocks and or bonds? I've been contemplating on investing in this market, because I know it's a smart thing to invest in if you know what you're doing. However, I have absolutely no clue what I'm doing and could really use some tips on how to even get started. Maybe what companies are good as far as stock brokers? Even after I'm started, maybe to keep in touch with hints and tips that you would know because anyone probably knows more than me in this aspect.

Hi vipersworld, I have finished my MBA recently and am a finance analyst. I would like to share a few things. First point, why do you want to invest? Investing is a very personal thing and it changes from person to person. So if you really want to invest then you have to take a decision like "do i want to invest by myself? or I want to have an advisor?" As you know, having an advisor will cost you. If you find a mentor then that's great. But it is not easy. And another option is to read books and learn. It takes time but the best one it is. As you know, you are the best for managing your money. As for bonds and stocks. Everyone knows, stocks are more volatile than bonds. If you want to win in investing first rule is be ready to accept temporary defeat. Well, it is a subject which has no perfect answer and no perfect formula. But one can get good results with simple common sense and logic. If you need more information, you can PM me. I will give you some resources which you can use for yourself. All the Best!

Thank you for taking the time to explain a bit of things. Thats a lot of information to take to mind. I don't even know the difference between stocks and bonds, however, I am very math oriented. I am very good at managing money, which I'm sure is a good start. I guess I'm lookin to start at something to invest over a lengthy period of time, and once I get some knowledge maybe to get into something where I can trade on a daily or weekly basis. I will PM you to try to get a feel for things. Thanks and Happy Mylotting!

I mainly invest in the stock market but so far the result isn't very fruitful. I think the very thing first thing you need to do is to start learning. There are plenty of books available discussing what is investment and what are stocks and bonds. Asking for opinion from people through the Internet is not exactly a bad idea but then if you don't have some foundations, you won't be able to tell how correct the advice others are giving you.
