Is your myLot rank important? and what are the stars for??

Hi myLot users, I am still kind of new to myLot and I keep seeing stars with numbers next to people's usernames. What is the point the stars and how do I get one? Im assuming that the higher the number in the star the better. Also I noticed that I have been ranked and was wondering if your rank made a difference in anything. Thanks a lot for your responses!!

The stars (with different numbers and colors) and the rank that appear before and after your name indicates your participation here in myLot. I do not know also what specific color of stars is the highest. I also assume that the higher the number inside the star, the better. You will get your first level star after you have reached 100 (100 posts) after your name... Good luck!
