Should you do or give 20 years service to the military?

I have spent 20 years service in the military and it has been a roller coster ride. There are a few highs but compared to all the low's, it seems very hard to justify the painfull family issues, constant deployments, the constant fight to get what you deserve - NCOER's(monthly reports)accurate one's, awards, proper traning and equipment and good leadership ETC. Good leadership is a hard and almost impossible thing to get in this modern Army. Despite 3 combt tours, enduring 3 marrages with almost no contact with loved ones except by phone for years. Is the land of the big PX, commessary, some what health benefits and dental. Does this acually pan out?. Does your family, kids, mental health, physical well being worth all this. I would like to hear from MyLot. Service to country- Honor, duty, respect, selfless service, integrety and loyalty are just words to get you to beleave inn something. I have alot to say on this topic. If I lived to be 75 my retirement pay could be around 750,000 dollars total I would have made. Let me here what you all have to say about this. Anyone know or feel this way? Should you give 20 years or just enough to get the new GI bill, get out, get a degree and truly enjoy your youth and truly live the only life you was given?

I have less than a year left in service, the only thing I would reenlist for the guanteed check. Unfortunately I can not reenlist. I'm getting out going to school to be a nurse. Once upon a time I wanted to do 20 years, than I got married and realized I wasn't going to do anything that would jeapordize it. We had already been separated a year after we got because of the Married couples program we were supposed to get put together it never happened! I say just do it enough for the new GI bill and get out!
