I was watching the local television channel yesterday night, and there is this interesting variety talk show on television every Tuesday. Every week, there will be 8 "students" coming from different countries to the talk show. These 8 "students" are foreigners who had came to our country to study and/or work, and most of the time, it's the same 8 people on the show. There are some from Japan, Korea, US, Brazil, Hong Kong, etc. Well, the special thing about this show is that they use Mandarin to converse with the "teacher" which is the host of the show. Every week, they had a few different topics for them to discuss. I will say that it's interesting to see how they try to speak in Mandarin in front of all, sharing their "culture shock" they've encountered here, and their culture in their home country. I do also learn more about the different countries culture and people, although some are quire exaggerating... How do you feel about this type of talk shows in general? In addition, do you have similar TV programs in your country?

Unfortunately, in my country doesn't have that TV program shows... But i think it will be great to have it here because it's important to interact with other country delegation to share and hear their thoughts about each culture by an audience.

Well, you will never know if they will produce this type of shows in the near future. Over here in my country, we had a lot of foreign talents working and studying here. I think that is why our local TV show thought of this type of talk show to get us to know more about the different cultures of people from different countries. Yes, it's really great to see these participants interact using Mandarin, which is not any of their native language. You can really see how hard they try to use Mandarin to describe their way of living vs. here. I really admire them for the adaptability to our culture here, as well as their determination of trying to use Mandarin in the show. Overall, it's an entertaining program, and I do gain lots of knowledge about some cultures from different countries.
