Christmas Spending

We usually aim for spending 1500 in total for our family but usually end up going over with last minute purchases, this year we are going to try to cut back on the amount of gifts we get our childre because by the time everyone in our family buys gifts for them they have so much i end up putting half of them away and pulling them out through the year, i dont want my kids to grow up thinking the most important thing about christmas is gifts to me the most important thing is spending time together as a family, also with the money we are saving by not going overboard on the kids id like to use for buying gifts and food for the local food bank in my community, when i look back its pretty pathetic here i am buy tons of gifts for my children when i could be giving them a more moderated amount of gifts and then being able to help those who would have nothing if people did not donate to the food bank or toy drives

I put up the tree after Thanksgiving. I spend a different amount each year.
