Buying a bran new laptop or a refurbished one from ebay of the same kind?

I was looking on eBay for a laptop and found very good one for $700, its regular price in the store is @1200, they are the same except for the eBay one being refurbished, has anyone bought a refurbished laptop of eBay? Does it still run?

I think if I am in your shoes, I will opt to buy a brand new laptop to ensure quality and lifespan of the laptop because you never know the kind of spare parts used for the refurbished unit and for a brand new laptop, you have a 1 yr warranty for the laptop that means that if within a year, your unit encountered problems, you can have the service center of the unit (HP/IBM/DELL) to check on the problems.
