Jim Jones..you remember that guy?

Do you guys remember Jim Jones? The guy with a sect and had a town called Jones town?
I just saw it's documentary on Discovery channel and I must say... it's not a pretty sight. Children died and people who didn't want to die still died and a Congressman was murdered.
What's your opinion on this subject matter?

It is sad, but it could happen again.
There are a lot of people who do not feel safe in the world and follow the likes the Jim Jones.
I hope it does not happen again. I know there were are handful of survivors who end up killing themselves.
And there is so much controversy over what actually happen.
I hope the families of the victims have found some peace.

Yeah they were brainwashed into thinking that to achieve peace they should die and knowing what's ahead of you (not to be accepted by the majority because you killed the congressman) they chose to die.

I certainly hope history does not repeat this incident! It was terrible and on the news for a long time back then! I followed the story pretty close although I was only a teen at the time. There will always be people with lots of charisma who can draw a crowd! And I guess there will always be some insecure people who will believe them and follow.. hopefully we are more guarded than that though!

Yeah. I heard that from my dad. He was 12 when this happened though but it really opened up his senses that time.
