How far will technology go?

Wouldn't it be nice if you could be anywhere in the world that you want anytime you want? Also wouldn't it be good to be able to see any person instantly and interact with them as if you were right there with them? I'm talking about virtual reality involving all the senses! It would enable the blind to see the world through technology, the crippled could experience walking, and all of your fantasies could come to life! All that would need to be done is to have a system installed that bypasses your nervous system to the brain. Then at that point a computer could send information to your brain that creates an experience. I believe this kind of technology will be available within my lifetime.
