My 21 month old and Sleep!

Since we came back from vacation last week our daycare has noticed that when they try to put our 21 month old down for her nap she starts crying and doesn't want to. I thought maybe she was just getting over not being with us all the time but last night when my husband asked her if she was ready to go to sleep she started crying and saying she didn't want to. When we asked why not she said cause Gage wake up. Gage is a little boy in her class at daycare. I am not sure what this means or why this has anything to do with her not wanting to go to sleep. Does anybody have any ideas why she would say this and get really fussy?

Has the daycare said anything about what has gone on during nap time? Is somebody there watching the children? Do they know if this boy is talking to to your daughter or maybe pushing her to get her to wake up? That would definitely be my first plan of action. Maybe the boy is doing these things when they are not able to see him and maybe they can be a little sneaky while they watch the kids napping. Have they noticed any problems between your daughter and this boy while they aren't napping? Once you have those answers you can take it from there.

Forgot to add that if he isn't doing anything then I would try to figure out what else is wrong. At least you would be able to rule that out. I know it isn't always easy when your child is so little to understand what they are trying to tell you. Just be extra attentive and hopefully your daughter can give you more clues.

you need to find out what is going on at the day care and then maybe you can find out if she is using that for a reason not to take a nap they are smart at that age.

I have a 21 month old boy and hubby and I have told ourselves that we cannot leave him behind and go on vacation anymore. Somehow he feels abandoned.
BUT....given that she did mentino Gage, maybe that is soemthing you need to look into.
Else maybe she is just feeling 'upset' about your leaving (was it while she slept, you all left?) and doesn't know how to express it or that she is chanelling it using Gage somehow.
