I was chewing food recently, and I bit on something that felt strange. I spit it out only to discover I chip my tooth. . I was not chewing anything hard, and I did not experience any pain. I think it's weird to chip a teeth so easily. I am going to see the dentist soon. Has this ever happen to anyone? If you visited a dentist, what treatment did the dentist perform?

omg yes. i got my lip pierced, and when they pierced it they did with a bar that was wayyy too long for me, and whenever i tried to eat i would be chewing, and accidentally bite down on it and chip my tooth. it hurt SO bad. but it was a wierd kind of pain, you know, where it doesnt hurt right away, but you know its about to hurt pretty bad, then it does and your eyes all tear up. i havent been to a dentist about it yet because i dont have dental insurance, i mean i might. i was recently married and got tricare because hes army, but im not sure if they do dental or not. it doesnt hurt anymore, but it was pretty bad when it happened.

Yes, same scenario happened to me. I was chewing food & one of my very front teeth chipped. I've always had dental problems, even my baby theeth. but being an adult with a chipped front tooth is sooo embarrasing to me, that it prevents me from dating (no joke!) & from smiling!! I went to the dentist recently for a quote...$2000!!! Soooo, with this "lovely" recession, it looks like the chipped tooth is here to stay for a long while!! Best of luck to ya!!!

My chip teeth is in the front also. I look in the mirror and I think gross. $2000.00 is a lot of money for a tooth, I hope mines is cheaper. Did you shop around, and see if another dentist might be cheaper?

Yeah I had experienced that years ago. I was eating Pringles potato chips and all of a sudden i was chewing on something hard. sadly it was a piece of my tooth. It had fallen off and the only thing that the dentist can do was pull all of it out because he cannot save it. It didnt really feel painful or anything it just got brittle maybe because I was lacking calcium. I hate drinking milk and eating dairy products and cheese when I was younger that's why my teeth started to get brittle. It doesnt matter if you brush your teeth everyday or use dental floss, if you dont eat the right food or the ones that will keep your teeth healthy then chances are this can happen to you.

My mom last most of her teeth, and it was basically due to poor diet. She hated calcium enrich products.

When i was younger. Young enough to take baths with my sister and brother. I fell one time and hit my front tooth on the side of the tub. It chipped it. I remember it hurt real bad. I dont know what the dentist did.

Yes, I have done that before when I was younger, I think I did that on biting the fork by accident, I was putting the food in my mouth with the fork and I bite the fork, I felt a weird pain then I used my tongue to rub the front teeth, a little surface of the corner was missing... it was too little so I didn't even find it... thne I went to the dentist, he said my teeth something is too weak so it might happen.

when i was in the second grade i chipped my front tooth. i had a crown put on it. it has only fell off once i just went and had it re cemented on. i do have a chipped tooth that is really bad in the back on the top left side that happened when i was eating popcorn one night it didn't hurt at the time, and has only hurt twice since i did it 5 yrs ago it was abscessed about 2 yrs ago took some meds for it and have no problem with it for now (knock on wood) i know what it cost to have the crown put on my front tooth and i just can't afford to have it done so i was gonna have it pulled they told me it will have to be cut out and it would cost me 350.00 to have it done. i have 4 kids think i can afford that. the money alsways has other purposes

Oh, I understand what you are going through. I have to remove my wisdom teeth, and it is so expensive that I usually just take a couple aspirins and deal with. Dental care is really expensive.

i actually broke a tooth - on my honeymoon! we were just over the border in the US and had to come home early from our honeymoon which was not a bad thing because if we had come home when we were supposed to, our apartment would have been um decorated by my mom (with toilet paper i am guessing).

I guess there was a bright side to the broken tooth.

Your question did bring a smile to my face! I must admit I've got horrible teeth, extremely prone to breaking. This happened because I got my teeth cleaned once and I guess the dentist overdid it, because since them my teeth started chipping often..I'd rather not visit any other denstist for this problem but only concentrate on how to make them stronger!

Baby teeth is okay because you know you are going to get more. I am sure breaking a tooth at that age was traumatic.
