Google announces desktop operating systems. First netbooks, then the world....Now do u understand why microsoft have been running scared of google? Because google arent someone that can be squashed or destroyed like microsoft have done to competition in the past. Googles income isnt based on operating systems, microsoft cant kill the company by squeezing out the operating system with oems like in the past, google aren't going to die if their os fails unlike others. They are the biggest threat. Microsoft must be bricking it, they have enjoyed near total monopolisation for decades but now theres a player who can stand up against them, and hurt them most. Their primary revenue stream started small with Android, and will just keep scaling upwards. Netbooks are already a huge market. The right moves would position google for desktop attack. It will also be interesting to see how microsoft will deal with an open platform backed by a major corporation. It could easily force microsoft into major damage limitation mode on Drm and pricing, its a huge potential bombshell. More info - http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/8139711.stm
