I read the book first and laughed out loud at least twice a page. The movie was funny too but left out a lot. I didn't see anything about his trip to space or being stranded on the island.

I must first admit that I have only watched the film and tht I was ignorant not to even know that there was a book a that the film was based on. But in general, from other experienes with movies and books, the books are always better! I understand tht it is difficult to fit an entire book into a 1 and a half hour screen play. I imagine that the book was brilliant and will atually go out and look for it now because with Tom Hanks as the lead charcter, I believe it will be very enjoyable. Just picturing in mind as a read will be great. Thank you for informing me about the book!

I prefer movies with subtitles rather than reading books. I am not that a kinda bookworm with great imagination. Movies are created with effects that makes me more interested about.

I think that is usually the case when you turn a book into a movie. There's bound to be something left out. In this case, however, I liked both the book and film. I think the movie still kept in touch with the essence of the book and I suppose that's the most important thing.
