Too much Chocolate might kill you...

They said a large portion of black chocolate is good for your heart; well that's my excuse these days to include chocolate in my daily diet. But I think I'm beginning to know my limit to this, I get dizzy at the end of the day, especially when I consume Branded overly sweetened chocolates. As I eat one of those I feel the top of my head mildly starts to sweat and I'll feel a little drowsy. In some cases I like the feeling, it's like being drunk or high only in a permitted lower doze, my heart is beating faster than it should and it makes me eager to work. The best thing of all, at night when I sleep, I sleep like a baby...well, big baby that is. I'm not sure if this is good for me, I am enjoying this now but it might present a problem in the future. I'm not sure what to do.

First of all you should consume less than one ounce of dark chocolate a day for the wonderful antioxidents that can be heart healthy. That's about half of a small bar of chocolate. On the other hand antioxidents and be found in many other foods that don't have the extra empty calories of chocolate. So if you are just out for the healthiness then you should find it in fresh fruits and vegetables. They are much better for you than chocolate. Secondly, it sounds like you need to see your primary care physician for a good physical and see if you have other health issues. I don't know anything else about your health but it sounds like you could be very close to diabetes, a disease where sugar is not metabolized correctly for many reasons. It can be life threatening so if sugar(overly sweetened chocolates) is causing changes in how you feel, you need to talk to your doctor. I can understand your love of chocolate. I am a true chocohalic. But you can enjoy such foods in moderation and get the antioxidents from other sources. I do allow myself a certain amount of chocolate every few days so I''m certainly not deprived. But I am vigilant when my health is concerned. Please talk to your doctor then make your choises wisely. It's better to be healthy and enjoy all foods in moderation than to suffer the consequences of a poor diet.

I'm thinking it might be more the sugar than the chocolate.. but remember that chocolate also contains caffeine. So it may not be the chocolate itself. However, you could even be allergic to the chocolate....
