plucking and pulling hair

I have a friend who likes to pluck and pull her her when she is watching TV, reading paper or while playing games on her PC. She pull them one at a time a and just let it fall on the floor. I ask her why she keeps doing that, she said she felt her hair is coarse so she just has to pull it out...(???) Lucky she is not bald yet doing that everyday. So what is up with that? Funny isn't it?
