How do you make extra money with Twitter?

I have heard and read "twitter" everywhere. I really don't understand it but know that Twitter send you text message, I think. Just within the last few week I have see "Make Money with Twitter". How and what do they mean? I am trying to learn this stuff but am a bit slow. Thanks for your input and comments and God bless you!
