For better or for worse. For richer or for poorer. In sickness and in health. Till death do us part. Familiar lines? Yes indeed. Those are the lines that a man and a woman would say to each other during the wedding rites. I was working then in a Catholic Church. We were always asked, mostly by the bride, which finger will they put the wedding ring. What I was told by one of the priests, since the left finger is closest to the heart, it is the best place to be. To those who are already married, which finger has your wedding ring? And, those who are about to get married, or not yet married, which finger would you place it?

Thanks for your post. Yes, mostly it is on the left ring finger. But I have seen some couple wearing them on the right finger.

In our culture, we don't have much emphasis on weeding rings, But yep when we were engaged we did had our engagement rings, which were indeed put in the ring finger of the left hand. We do wear them mostly, but its not mandatory...

Thanks for your post. Well, yes. You put then in the left hand ring finger. It may not be a wedding ring, still it is a symbol of love.

I always thought it HAD to go on the left and the distance from your left hand finger to your heart, and your right hand finger to your heart much be pretty much exactly the same (maybe a tiny bit different), so would it really make that much difference? Having said that, if i was to get engadged i would put it on my left hand finger lol. If i then split up with that person i would put it on my right hand finger. Or Put it on a chain round my neck or something. Unless i had particularly bad memories with this person,or found out he had been cheating on me (then i would probably throw the ring at his head whilst yelling at him or something hehe)

Believe it or not, both my husband and I dont wear our wedding ring on a normal day. We only wear it when we are out on some functions. We find it getting in the way of our daily chores. Before we were married, both of us had never like wearing rings, until we got married, we both decided and agreed not to use the wedding ring unless we are to attend some important meetings, gathering, functions. :) And when we do put on the wedding ring, we put it on our left hand finger. I was told that it is the closest to our hearts too.

I find it odd that you do not wear your wedding bonds. Well I guess some are not really used to wearing rings at all. Has there been a time, in your normal day, that someone had noticed and asked you why you are not wearing your rings?
