I am a nanny and I want to know, When you are out with your charges and someone refers to you as the mom, or says aww she/he is beautiful what do you say? do you play along? or do you correct them? i usually play along unless the child objects or corrects the person. and I always thank the paerson for the compliment if the child is not old eough to do so themselves.

I am an Aunt, becuase I do not have children I proudly say that they are my neices and nephews (depending on who all is with me). It makes them feel special if I make it a point to agree about how wonderful they are. I do not know how I would respond if I was essentialy raising them. I think that it would depend on how much time I spent with them, if the parents had little to do with them then I would not hessitate to let it slide. But if the parents are involved in their lives then I would simply say that I am just blessed to get to spend so much time with them. We do not have many nannies in the US (that I know of). I think that the best response is the one your charges are the most comfortable with.
