Hi my 5 year old son suffers from seizures, he's had them since he was 3 months old. Currently he is on keppra, but the Doctors do not know what is causing the seizures. Every test he takes comes back normal. Does anyone know what else causes seizures besides epilepsy?

My son also has a seizure disorder. He was having them from day 1, but no doctor believed me until he was 6 days old when a nurse saw him have one. He was flown to a hospital with a better NICU and they also ran every test possible and got nothing. There was seizure activity, but no source. Seizures run in my husband's family. They simply told us it's hereditary; silly to me, cause somewhere along the line something must have CAUSED it, it's not just going to happen for no reason. My son is on Phenobarbital. It's been working great. The last seizure he had was when he was 4 months old, and he's now 2. We recently took him back to the neurologist and there is no more seizure activity, but we have to continue giving him the medication until November...they want there to be a solid 2 years of no seizures.
