Raccoons return

Well the Raccoons came back last night and brought their buddies. We had taken away the source of food so all they did was tear up things and haul some of them into the field. I think they will only come for a couple of nights, they need to find food and so will be on their way. At least until the fruit on the trees gets ripe, then we will have the whole crew back. Once the fruit starts to spoil it will make them drunk so that they fall out of the trees, we have to keep the dogs away or they might kill the raccoons. Some neighborhood this is.

am imagining them the way you described it. its like cartoon characters in my mind. so cute. 
but am sure its not good they are coming to you at night just to steal food. it is wise that you keep those food source and let them find other places to get it.

Several years ago we had my sister-in-laws dogs staying at our home. We had set up a kennel for them, and they seemed to enjoy it. We got food for them and put it in a large metal trash can with a tight fitting lid. We had placed this trash can on our back porch, so as to keep it out of the weather. One night I heard a loud clatter on the back porch and went and looked out. A mother raccoon had arrived with several babies and was showing them how to get the lid off the trash can, and climb inside to eat. I was really surprised that they could do this. After that, I placed my three drawer tool chest, filled with tools, on top of the trash can. Imagine my surprise when, one night, I heard this LOUD CRASH ON THE BACK PORCH, went to investigate, and discovered that they had figured out that they could roll that toolbox off, and start eating just like before.
