Are you afraid to speak your mind?

Sometimes in real life I will keep my mouth shut on an issue as I am often afraid of losing friendships or upsetting relatives. However online I feel free to express my opinion though I don't try to act rude to anyone or anything like that. But if I disagree or someone says something that upsets me I let them know. However sometimes when I read responses from people in various forums throughout the internet I find that there are a lot of people who hold back from what they really want to say. Or they act really supportive even if they don't agree with whatever the poster says. I am just wondering why some people have a hard time saying what is on their mind online? After all it is anonymous unless you choose to disclose your name and face, but even then the chance of someone finding you in real life and slapping you for a comment you made online is slim. So, do you speak your mind online? Or do you hold back? Why or why not?
