A huge earthquake a few days ago has moved New Zealand 1 foot closer to Australia. There seem to be a lot of earthquakes at the south end of the south island. No damage has been reported onland. http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2009/jul/22/new-zealand-closer-australia-quake It would be nice if an airfare to kiwiland will drop because it's not as far now. Hey, a good gimick for an airline, "Our airfares to New Zealand have been adjusted downwards due to the recent re-location of New Zealand".

I did not realise there was an earthquake happened in New Zealand recently. Movement by 1 foot is considered substantial...It was predicted that there will be a number of natural phenomena happening in this month of July 2009. Today the world witnessed the longest Solar eclipse of this century...

Hello Irene88, yes it was substantial, and I was looking for earthquakes happening that may be linked to the eclipse, this location has many earthquakes though, it was not unusual.
