You did not mention your budget because that will be the main factor to judge what is to be purchased and how the money is to be divided. Here are a few options from my side to you If you are planning to sell the whole system and then buying a new one, then i prefer to sell the whole unit i mean the CPU. If you are running out of cash and you wish to save money then you can do the following. Keep the following with you 1. RAM 2. Hard disk 3. Cabinet And sell the remaining because the above mentioned are good. RAM also has some more life and its condition has not yet arrived like the DDR1 RAM. Cabinet fits with all motherboards i guess even yours does. I suggest you to buy the following based on you its bifercated A) If you wish to play games and only games then opt the AMD 4600+ or above series it comes with dual core processor B) If you do not play games then opt for the intel core 2 duo, as its process of compiling is speed and it supports all types of compiling. Now comes the price difference If you wish to save some cash then you should opt for AMD as it comes a bit cheaper than the Intel. I am suggesting this. Try getting the best configuration. Inform me with the result. PLEASE ALL THE BEST HAPPY MYLOTTING.

wow thanks for the advise.. I never thought of getting AMD because it heats up fast.. and I think I may also need to get a good video card like 512bit/256mb.

ayshin07, i dont think you need to worry about the heating up problem if you have a good cooling mechanism. get a good fan. i dont reckon its too expensive either.

hi ayshin, i think you need to change your processor from p4 to the quad core. get the latest intel quad core processor Q6600 which runs at 2.4 ghz at factory setting and can easily be overclocked to 3.0 at least. you need more ram atleast 2gb more if you are using xp. you need a good graphic card, u didn't tell what model is your graphic card, well for upgrading a graphic card you also need to upgrade the psu that is the power supply unit which is very important, i would recommend you a crosair 750w power unit, its really good. and you should get a 9800gtx 1gb graphic card if you are into gaming :) thanks..hope it helps

Thanks for the advise.. somebody already paid for my PC upgrade. My good friend upgraded my processor to Intel quad core processor Q6600, my video card to HIS ATI Radeon HD4890 1MB 256bit DDR5 PCI-E, and RAM to 4Gb. GTIV looks great on the new specs and running real smooth..

well, what can i say that you can get a more powerful PC by assembling it. i can afford an imac but not everybody can ( i am not going to buy mac but wait for core i9-based alienware for 1 year). You can keep the RAM AND BUY A NEW ram AND PUT IT IN THE OTHER SLOT. you can also buy a new hard disk to and add an new one in the other slot if you want. Change your proccesor to a dual core one or even quad core like Intel core 2 quad as well core i7 if you can afford more. I prefer you also buy a new graphic card. Good Luck

For me, I suggest: 1. sell your current PC. -If you are upgrading your P4 processor to core 2 duo, You need also to upgrade the motherboard, the RAM and the Video Card. Your current RAM, Video card and Motherboard will no longer be used so better sell them. 2. Think what you really need. -if you are a music and movie fan and a fan of downloading and storing movies and songs, Better have a good Hard Drive. A 320gb or 500gb would be a good choice. -If you are a gamer, A 2gb or greater RAM, Core 2 duo, 1gb of video card is cool. Currently, I am upgrading my PC to a dual core processor. It cost me around $180 for the Processor, motherboard, video card, and 2gb Ram and recycled my 160gb hard drive. I sold my old motherboard, processor and ram in pieces. Happy Mylotting.
