Did you know that cantaloupe has this vitamin in it?

When I was pregnant with my daughter my mom had me eat cantaloupes by the truck load. She said they had Vitamin K in them which is a blood thickener. My mom freaked all the time I was pregnant about this and that. She nearly had a coronary when they rolled in a machine to check how dialated I was at one point. If it hadn't been for my girlfriend coming and keeping her occupied I think she would have. For some reason she had it in her head that I was going bleed to death. Now this was back in the early seventies. My mom was a very intelligent woman and know alot about health and such. She really did. But did you know this about cantaloupe?

I never knew cantaloupe has vitamin k. I wonder if honey dew as well has it. This is very informative.

So which has more K, honeydew or cantaloupe. My site said 6% of daily value of K, 14% of potassium and 120% of A. All very good, as there are not that many sources of K.

Hey celtic! I never knew about that! All I know is that I just love canteloupes! They are one of my very favorite fruits! In fact, last night my mom and I were talking about what she should get for me when I come to Florida on Wednesday and I told her that I love canteloupes and she said she hated them! I laughed! She said we don't like any of the same fruits or foods which is pretty much right! She was trying to get stuff in her house that I like so that I would have stuff when I got there! It's true that we really don't like much of the same anything! But, she will get me lots of canteloupes! I told her I love honeydews too and she said she hated them too! Oh well!

Sometimes you just can't win! Maybe while you are there you will find something you both like. I love them too! A nice and ripe one is like Heaven.

No, I thought K came from dark green leafies. I consider cantaloupe as a prime source of A, but that just goes to show how I can get something in my head and not want to turn it loose. I also think of it as being high in postassium, but I am probably just wishing there.

Nope. I think you are thinking of Vitamin A. And orange fruit has caritine in it. I know bananas have potassium in them and several other things.

People on blood thiners have to avoid Vitamin K as it makes their blood clot better.
