Do you ever brush your teeth in the shower?

When a friend mentioned in causal conversation a while back ("So this morning i was in the shower brushing my teeth, when i started thinking...") I was so consumed by the weird idea of brushing you teeth in the shower, that i coudln't concentrate on the rest of what she had to say. Does this seem odd to you? So anyways, i decided to try it..and it has now become my prefered location for brushing. I brush them while i am in the shower, letting the conditioner sit on my hair for a few minutes. I love the fact that when i emerge from the shower now, i feel one hundred percent clean from head to toe, including inside my mouth. So now i keep a spare toothbrush and a travel sized tube of toothpaste in the shower for use while i am there. I also know of some people who keep their toothbrushes and mouthwash at the kitchen sink, as opposed to the bathroom one. They do this for convienience in the morning, as they share a bathroom with others, and this way while someone else in in the bathroom showering or whatnot, another can be brushing their teeth in the kitchen. I even know one person who has a mirror above their kitchen sink to facilitate this. So how about you? do you brush your teeth somewhere other than at the bathroom sink? Or do you find this strange and foreign?

No, I've never brushed my teeth in the shower. For me, logistically, it's not something I want to do. I like to have the mirror and be able to see what I'm doing. I will often times floss, as part of my daily teeth cleaning routine and I see that as a pain to do in the shower. Besides, I've been working with my son to brush his teeth a little better, taking more time, etc. The best way, is to just show him what I do. I think brushing in the shower, can work for some, but for me, I'll just stick to using the bathroom sink 2 or 3 times a day.

And i am sure most dentist would say that as long as you are doing it, it doesn't matter where. Maybe that is why most people brush their teeth in the sinks, because when they were young and being shown how to properly clean their teeth, it was easiest for their parents to stand at the sink and show them, as opposed to in the shower.

I sometimes brush my teeth while taking bath. because sometimes I forgot to brush my teeth when I just wake up. Once I remember that when I am shower, then I will brush my teeth at the shower time so that I wouldn't forget to brush it later. My tooth brush and tooth paste is placed at the bathroom sink. So I can easily get them to brush my teeth while shower.

Lucky you! I have an unusually large bathroom (all my friend comment on how nice it must be to have so much space in there) and if i forgot to have my toothbrush/toothpaste there already, i would have to get out and walk across the room to retrieve them, which would mean either stopping to dry off, or having to clean up puddle of water later!

You should..it may or may not work for you, but there is a chance it could save a coupld of minutes in your morning routine..something that might certainly come in handy on days when you are pressed for time to get everything done!

I guess it all depends on what we were taught to do as children, since brushing my teeth somewhere other than over a sink (or a running water source) sounds odd to me as well. Though i am sure a dentists would say that he/she doesn't care WHERE you do it, just that you do it!

Well I think it is each their own way, but I have always done it at the bathroom sink unless I have company and then I use the kitchen sink. But I also feel my mouth is not clean until I do use mouthwash, now awwww, I feel better now. SMILES

Yes, mouthwash is an important ending step to some, and flossing. I could se where it might become cumbersome to some people, as they might not have room near their showers to keep all the extra products they like to use for oral hygiene.

I guess that is maybe where you parents taught you to brush your teeth. Mine only ever had me do it at the bathroom sink when i was growing up, so that is what i was used to. It is interesting to learn other peoples habits and ways of doing thing that are different from what you have been taught.

No, I don't brush my teeth in the shower. I brush them over the bathroom sink. However, there was time, when I noticed that my sister had done it. She had just taken her shower and, when I went into the bathroom after she had finished her shower, I noticed that her tooth brush and toothpaste was next to the shower.

Did you think it was weird? Did you ask her why those items were in the shower, when they didn't seem to belong there? Did it make you want to try it too?

I brush my teeth over the kitchen sink because our bathroom sink got a leak and was never fixed. Brushing while in the shower is kind of strange for me, too. I would like to try that!

I recommend it! And really, it is probably saving water in the long run too, as you are already in the shower running th water, you might as well brush your teeth there, rather than running the water again later to brush your teeth!

Most of the time I will brush my teeth in the bathroom sink, but if someone is using the bathroom I would brush my teeth in the kitchen sink. I don't find it unusual, I know some people do wash their faces and brush their teeth while they are in the shower. I might try that one day.

Almost all the people that I know brush their teeth in the shower or bathroom sinks. Maybe people in my place are not used to brushing teeth in the kitchen sink because that is where we put our food, I mean you will put vegetables or chicken in kitchen sink to wash them before cooking. Either way, I prefer to do my teeth brushing in the shower. Maybe because we were taught that way since kids so kind of used to it already.

I supose that is why i found it strange and odd when i first hear it. Growing up, my family always only brushed in the bathroom sink, so hearing of people doing it else where just sounded funny to me. Just like many other things, if you are brought up to do it one way, other ways always sound odd and foreign, even though they are just as feasable, and sometimes make even more sense.

I don't know if i could do it in the bath exactly...i don't think having the toothpaste residue from my mouth floating in the bathwater would appeal to me very much. But the shower works, cause it goes right down the drain. Thanks for asnwering!

i don't find this weird because i have tried brushing my teeth both in the shower and at the kitchen sink.. but i find it more refreshing while i'm in the shower...my bath won't be complete without it!! i just love brushing my teeth in the shower! before i thought that it could save me some time but later on it turned out to be a routine...

that is initially why i tried it, as a time saving step. which it is. I am so glad i am not alone in this, yet at the same time, i thought it was very odd when i first heard of someone doing it *lol*

I brush my teeth in the shower every morning, and I think it is great! Like you, I also brush while the conditioner is working its magic on my hair. Living with my two older siblings, the bathroom is always occupied, so I also find myself brushing at the kitchen sink. I am a tooth brushing fanatic, and brush after consuming anything. Some people think this is strange, and are even repulsed to think of leaving a toothbrush in the shower. But, what is the difference between leaving it in the shower or over the sink next to the toilet? The shower is for cleansing, why not cleanse everything?

Precisly why i don't think it is weird. Though, as i mentioned, i do have a second toothbrush and a small tube of toothpaste in the shower, and one at the bathroom sink, mostly becaue if i didn't, i would get in the shower, go to brush my teeth, and not have my toothbrush! and since i brush my teeth more often than i shower (which i think we all should) i do still brush at the sink as well.

That is strange, but it seems efficient to knock out brushing teeth while in the shower. Usually though, I'm brushing my teeth while putting my shoes/socks on, grabbing my wallet/phone, getting my food/books ready, so I guess the multitasking is still there...I might have to try it in the shower one of these days lol...

I do often roam the house while brushing my teeth..catch a bit of the news, st my coat and purse on the table so i can just grab them and head out the door later, things like that.

I brush my teeth at the sink. It would be in the shower longer if I were to brush my teeth while taking a shower.

When i brush my teeth in the shwoer, i do it while i am leaving the conditioner to sit on my hair for a little while, so i don't really think it takes any longer. And besides..i love taking long showers, the water always feels so nice.

I used to brush my teeth in the bath, when i was younger.

So what made you stop? was there anything in particular you didn't like about it, such as storing your toothbrush in the shower or something? Or did you just not like doing it.

Yes, I do that. I believe that it saves time and most especially water when you do it all at the same time.

That is...uhmm.uhmm..something that i do most of the time, i don't stay in the sink when ever i brush my teeth, sometimes i walk around or go to the living room watch T.V. for a few minutes while taking a brush..it's not strange for me.

Yes, I brush my teeth in the shower since i was in high school. I'm 45 years old now.I do all my grooming all at the same time. It's multi-tasking. I also have to reveal this to you and i'm pretty sure some of you will find it very disturbing. I take my coffee in the morning while defecating..I'm basically just budgetting my time that's why it's helpful to multi-task.
