Have you ever eaten RAT meat?

I'll be visiting my friend who works in Cambodia. Last year when i went there, they offered me to eat this delicacy which is basically fried RAT. Yes you heard me right, they offered me to eat fried R-A-T. of course i did not try it but i think i offended the locals who offered me that thing. In Cambodian culture, you are actually embarrassing a person when you refuse to eat something that was offered to you. Rat meat, according to my friend is like eating chicken and its safe. Have you ever eaten rat meat? was it good? did you get sick or something? are you still alive? lol
