a co-worker regularly hangs-out in my desk especially during break times and he uses my phone to make personal calls. but my co-worker's breath is totally out of this world! his breath smells like a garbage and i feel like fainting whenever we are engaged in a conversation. so every time he uses my phone it leaves a trace of rotten saliva in the mouth piece, even if i wipe it off with a disinfectant or strong perfume it won't wear off. the smell stays there the whole day. sometimes i don't want to answer the phone every time it rings to avoid contact with that dreaded smell but company policy requires us so. we both belong to the same department and i have no choice but to work closely with him. its difficult for me to talk to him because aside from smelling his breath, we are not that close. i might offend him. any suggestions please?

My ex co worker used to have bad breath but i never did have the courage to tell him.Me and one of my other colleague talked about it and one of us wanted at least to clear the air but no guts. That breaths was terrible we just endured it but anyway i guess the simple way was we could have just have offer him some gum or something that at least would have kept the bad breaths away for the day. Cheers and nice discussions

Hello there, If you had other companion in you department, you can leave a message on his desk. But is it is just the two of you...never do that . I know this is really serious,it's not easy to smell a rotten garbage everyday.

Bad breath is common in most male's so no offense politely tell him your problem and hand him some mint or stuff that would help him.

Hi there! Maybe there is someone in your department who is close to your co-worker where you can ask help. I'm sure your co-worker have other friends within the department. Sometimes bad breaths are not just because of poor hygiene but it could be a condition and the person needs helps. Maybe talk to your co-worker in a sincere way. I know it would be offending a little but it's for the person's benefit so she/he can do something about the bad breath. Hope that helps. Ciao!

Don't hesitate to tell him the truth. After all he is not your boss.If he were your superior, you have to think of how to tell him.May be you are helping him as some people don't know they have bad breath at all. So,he will thank you rather than getting offended.Cheers!

Have mints or gum with you, and whenever he come over take one out for yourself, and then offer him one out of "politeness." He'll think you're just sharing when in reality...
