What can you say about the Filipino singers on Philippine TV?

Filipinos are talented when it comes to singing because of many foreign influences. Some were making names internationally but not those who were discovered on their own land. I just noticed that there are too many local singers and it's so hard to get noticed since most of them almost have same styles with each other. The looks and publicity may be one tool to get ahead of others. Why do Filipinos patronize more of American music rather their own? What can you say kabayans? Do we need to overhaul the Filipino music industry? How could we penetrate our music to the world?

Hello there, How could we penetrate the world with our music? Dear,we already did, don't you know that everywhere in the world Filipino artist were famous especially in the singing industry? In all Asian country,Filipino's were always number one. In the world, how could you not remember our very own LEA SALONGA compete with so many competitors all over the globe? Not to mention Regine Velasquez who was the big threat to Mariah Carey. And the famous "BE MY LADY" of Martin Nievera that captured the heart of Frank Sinatra and recorded the song thru international music records. uhmnnn,,,,a lot more

Hello jaiho. Yes we have few artists that are getting known but not as popular like Michael Jackson, Mariah Carey, Madonna, etc. These artists have always been around and most of their songs are a hit. I'm not talking about making it on Broadway but making music that could make it to the international pop chart. Our local artists may have fans around the globe but foreign artists from the west have more Filipino fans. What I mean we don't get equal or somehow close to the number of fans we get from other countries. Americans get more fans around the globe than of our local artists. Leah Salonga is one of my favorite because she's so original that's why she have gone international. Martin Nivera is another original. Regine has her own style in singing but sometimes copy MTV styles of Mariah. It's just my opinion.

I believe we don't have to "overhaul" our music industry because Filipino music is the most respected music across Asia. Not only do we influence the musics of other countries but we serve as a leader of innovation to them. Sadly though, because of colonial mentality, instead of cultivating out music, many musicians are copycats of music styles of the west but it is also important to note that there are still some musicians who continues to cultivate and promote our own music in their own way.

Because the Western Influences were and still more expected and adore than any asian singers. and there are other singers here and there in Asian countries competing with each other just to climb to the top and probably get recognized by the Western World.but Western music like in the US is so influential to us that they tend to have immediate fans when ever they visit here.
