Micheal Owen: Give Him A Chance

The capture of Micheal Owen by Sir Alex Fergusson must be a very smart move! If Man U can keep him fit, I think he'll repay them many times over. His career has been injury-plagued. I wonder why Liverpool never gave Owen a second chance: sometimes, I think it's just a case of foolish pride! What do you think? D Shinde

I hope Owen can sustain the form he currently enjoys. We have to state clearly that friendly games are not the same as competitive matches. So, we can only rate how well Michael Owen is maybe by the middle of next season. I have my doubt anyway if he will be able to score goals freely as he has been doing in the past few weeks. I respect Owen for what he has achieved and wish him well.

I think it was a bad decision from Ferguson to sign Owen, as he is clearly out of shape. It's not unusual for Ferguson to surprise us, he does know his job, and I sure hope he will bring Owen back on track, United need a good striker.

I think Fergie has been the cunning old dog again and seen something in Michael which other managers missed because they have been blinded by his injury record and his poor time at Newcastle. As a Liverpool fan I have always been a fan of Owen and even before he signed for Newcastle I could see that it was going to be doomed. The style of football which Newcastle have played over the last few years is different to the style which suits Owen. Which has been proven in the last week or so with his performances for Man Utd. As for why Liverpool didn't resign him. Well I think it was partly down to the fact he was far too expensive back then and not worth the huge fee attatched to him. But also the Liverpool team had moved on from the days of Owen and I reckon he would have struggled to adjust to the new Liverpool game and also being in the ever changing squad system of Benitez. There always seem to be players in the Liverpool squad which have a moan over the way Benitez shuffles the squad even when he finds a winning combination and as a Liverpool fan it annoys me. I would love to see Owen do well this season and find his way back into the England team, most likely as an impact sub. Plus I hate to say it I think Fergie has pulled by a blinder by signing him.

Hi darwinshinde, Furgason only bought Owen because of free transfer and pay per play basis contract. It is a really good move to have Owen in that scenario. If Man United have to pay for the transfer, I don't think they will go for it. Owen can score goals during pre-season match because he played more compare to Rooney or Barbetov. And all the opponent are not in Man United standard. I don't think that is the case when the season start off. I will see Owen only a subs on Man United list. As a Liverpool supporter, I never support any move to bring Owen back. With his medical record and transfer fee that time, it is not a good move at all. And Liverpool also have someone who can play better then Owen as a striker. And I don't think Bernitez will not change the playing style just to please Owen type of play. It is too early to talk about Owen now. We can only see it on December and May 2010 to make a conclusion. Good luck to Owen and man United. With Liverpool, You'll Never Walk Alone.

I think it's a very scary thing to sign someone who has a bad history of injuries, No one questions his talent for scoring goals but quite simply it will come down to how long he can stay fit and how many he can score for us:) I hope he is dynamite for Utd because we are going to need it.

Well as a Newcastle supporter I am quite pleased to see him go as they are paying him for constantly being injured! I know its not his fault he gets injured I'm sure like me he is just very unlucky and finds it easy to get injured. My brother who supports Manchester United is quite pleased to have him and has stated that Michael Owen will play better for Manchester United as they are the better team! I beg to differ, he is an injured man he is good at getting injured, bless him. I dont know why Liverpool never took him back but he did help ewcastle for a while so I cant complain! Good luck to him!
