Is it required to use groute pump

I have to apply grout between 3-5 centimeter thickness under a base plate which would be used for installtion of heavy machinerry .
the base plate is 4x12 Meter .
Is it required to use a pump or just puring the grout under the base plate would be o.k.?
is there any standard in this regard ?
