Why doesn't it give it hits? I kept refreshing last night to and after an hour some of the hits came on. Once while refreshing it said YouTube was under maintenance, but that went away. I'm trying to help my friend, what should I do?

It is likely that the Youtube site only counts unique visits to a page or video over a specific time period. This means that refreshing a page won't increase the hit counter. You'll need to change your IP address, or use proxies to get around that.

Ok... I will try to explain this as simply as possible. If the proxy you were using was able to hide the fact it was a proxy, then you should see a hit on the counter. It is likely that Youtube is using script which detects proxies. If you're using a Transparent Proxies, it will "forward" your IP when it is requested by a script. Primarily, proxy detecting scripts were developed to combat bruteforcing. Bruteforcing is a technique which rapidly sends the username and password to a site in hope of getting entry. If I remember correctly, Youtube also has a list [in their script] which will prevent their counters increasing if you are using certain "Traffic Sites". My final comment is about Cookies, even if you are using a "secure proxy", Youtube may be reading a cookie from your browser.

1. If I clear my cookies will that help, (if it will than how can I). 2. Do you have any suggestions for a non-transparent proxy.

You can get software 'robots' that will open a site every 10 seconds, day in and day out. However, most sites now have filters in place to recognise the robots and remove the value of such visits. You are trying to be a very slow robot! Often this is simply by recording the IP address of each computer making a visit to the site. If the same computer visits within a set number of seconds (usually 24 hours) then it records only the one visit and ignores all others that day.

Well, I've been using a bit of Reload Every. The thing is though it counted like 300 of those hits but it keeps staying at 300. Do you think if I use a proxy that would help?

The proxy didn't work. Maybe youtube is just taking time to upload the hits?
