Watchmen- thoughts after I watched

I started a discussion yesterday about Watchmen, right before I watched the movie- I had just finished reading the graphic novel. I thought the movie was just ok, not as good as it could have been. I think the music wasn't particularly suited to the visual- especially in the first 20 min or so. And I thought it was a little too verbatim from the book- except for the ending. The costumes were pretty good, that is except for the Nite Owl and Veidt. I loved the Nite Owl costume so much in the book- in the movie, it didn't look too owl-y at all. And Veidt's costume was too 90's-batman-ish; I think it should have had more curvature, than so many ridges. What do you think of the movie? or comparing it to the graphic novel?

I haven't read the graphic novels so maybe my whole view of the movie is a bit skewed. The movie was good - no where near as great as many people told me it was. Not sure if they could have cut anything out of the movie, but it was quite long. The storyline flowed but I felt like I was sitting there 3 hours.

I've checked out the graphic novel, and saw the film. Overall I was rather disappointed in how it turned out. The changes I had no problem with its just the execution. There were certain parts in the graphic novel that had great impact but when those parts were on the screen, it lost its impact. A lot of people say that you must read the graphic novel in order to enjoy the film. I'm pretty sure if I hadn't read the graphic novel, I would've enjoyed the film a lot better.
